Workshop on Resource Efficiency

December 16, 2025 // Online

LEAPto11 is pleased to announce its upcoming online Workshop on Resource Efficiency, which will take place on Tuesday, 16 December 2025, from 10:00 to 13:00 CET. The session will bring together experts from European energy agencies, auditors and EU project representatives to share insights on resource efficiency audits and their key role in the implementation of resource efficiency measures. Join us in this insightful session by registering here.

LEAPto11’s work on resource efficiency

Resource efficiency audits have the capacity to boost the implementation of energy, water and materials efficiency measures, therefore, increasing the companies’ competitiveness and diminishing the uncertainties of externalities. The quantification of these audits’ potential savings is fundamental, and its starting point should be the definition of suitable key performance indicators (KPIs), capable of creating a basis for decision-making and efficiency measures implementation, supported by solid data.

In the framework of the LEAPto11 project, partners have worked on the development of a robust resource audit methodology. This has been followed by the implementation of pilot case studies to assess potential benefits and savings, test new KPIs beyond the traditional energy dimension, and understand how these indicators can support the design or improvement of programmes for non-obligated companies. The developments are aligned with the requirements of the new Article 11 of the Energy Efficiency Directive (EED).

Each case study partner carried out at least three pilot studies, selecting companies from different sectors and organisational dimensions. The definition of the selection criteria was supported by a preliminary survey, ensuring a representative and coherent sample aligned with the project’s objectives.

The pilot activities included audits structured in several stages, specifically:

  1. An initial interview with top management and the energy manager.
  1. On-site measurements, where necessary, carried out by the designated technical team.
  1. A final interview with top management to evaluate the results achieved, the perceived benefits, and the potential impact of the identified measures on the company’s overall performance.

Workshop objectives

  • Present to other agencies, organisations, private stakeholders and academics the most relevant project results on resource efficiency applied to energy audits, including case studies from partner Agencies.
  • Gather knowledge from experiences from the scientific community and other relevant organisations, including their inputs (particularly from the business sector). The information will be considered for the following project activities.
